Family Owned Since 1909

The roots of Sombrío Ranch were planted when our family homesteaded in the Jemez Mountains in 1909. The ranch has remained in the same family ever since.

We’re located at an elevation of 8,400 feet in some of the most beautiful, grass-filled meadows of the Jemez Mountains.

Through the generations we’ve bred our cattle to thrive in our mountain environment. We all live here year-round.

Proud to Preserve a Legacy of Stewardship

We believe ranching should work with the land, not against it. That’s why we embrace practices that preserve soil health, protect native grasses, and ensure our cattle live in harmony with the environment.

Today we are Women Owned and Operated, keeping the traditions and practices of our foremothers and fathers alive and well in all that we do.

Sustainability isn’t just a philosophy—it’s a promise to future generations.
